Membership for independent potters
Studio membership is for potters who already know how to throw or handbuild — people who've taken classes elsewhere, worked in a studio before, or learned from a friend. You don't need to be advanced; you just need to know the basics and want ongoing access to work independently on your own pieces.

Access and independence
Members work independently during studio open hours — there's no tutor present, but you're never alone. You'll have a secure key or pass code to get in, and you can come as often as your schedule allows. Most of our members are here several times a week, though others drop in once weekly or when the mood takes them.
Kiln firings happen on a fixed schedule (typically twice a month). You prepare and load your pieces, and our kiln master handles the firing itself. We charge a small firing fee per load, separate from membership, so you only pay when you actually fire.
This is very different from a taught beginners class — you're not learning new techniques, you're not in a structured group, and you're not paying per session. Membership is about having a studio to call yours.
Is membership right for you?
Membership works best if you already feel confident at the wheel or with hand-building. If you've never thrown before, or if it's been years and you're rusty, we'd strongly suggest taking a beginners course or trying a taster session first. That way you'll know exactly what you can do, and you'll get much more out of membership when you're ready.
We also offer taster sessions for people who want to explore without committing to a full course — a great option if you're curious but not sure where you stand.
